This paper will offer a brief, illustrated introduction to “The London Charter for the Computer-based Visualisation of Cultural Heritage”, a set of principles that seek to ensure the methodological and ethical rigour of digital visualisation as a means of researching and communicating cultural heritage. The London Charter has had considerable success in acting as a catalyst for establishing international consensus on the principles that should inform best practice in heritage visualization across disciplines, and is now widely recognised as the de facto benchmark to which heritage visualization processes and outputs should be held accountable.
